A Broken World

Dec 21, 2025    Pastor Matt Moore

What makes a “perfect” Christmas?

Many of us picture lights, traditions, family gatherings, and joyful moments. But when we look closely at the first Christmas, the story is far from perfect. It includes fear, injustice, suffering, and deep loss.

In Week 2 of The Imperfect Parts of Christmas series, we take a deeper look at Matthew 2 and the story surrounding King Herod and the massacre of the innocents. This difficult part of the Christmas story reminds us that Jesus did not enter a perfect world to show perfect love. He entered a broken world to show real love.

This message speaks to those who are carrying grief, disappointment, or unanswered questions during this season. It invites us to ask not only “Why did this happen?” but “Where is God in this?” and points us to the hope found in God’s presence, compassion, and promise of redemption.

Christmas doesn’t tell us the world is perfect.

Christmas tells us the world is loved.

If this season feels heavy for you, this message is a reminder that God is not distant from your pain. He stepped into it, walks with us through it, and promises that brokenness will not have the final word.

Watch, reflect, and be encouraged by the hope of the Gospel this Christmas.
