Rule of Life
Many people desire spiritual growth, but desire alone does not produce transformation. Healthy transformation is possible, but it is not inevitable.
In John 15, Jesus gives us a powerful picture of the spiritual life. He describes Himself as the vine and us as the branches. Branches cannot survive on their own—they need to stay connected to the vine in order to have life and produce fruit.
Jesus does not say “try harder.”
He says, “abide in me.”
The early followers of Jesus developed something called a Rule of Life—a set of intentional rhythms and practices that help us remain connected to God.
A Rule of Life is not about becoming more religious. It is about intentionally structuring our lives around the presence of Jesus.
Your Rule of Life may include rhythms like:
Daily
• Prayer
• Scripture
• Silence with God
• Gratitude
Weekly
• Sabbath rest
• Church community
• Time with spiritual friends
Monthly
• Serving others
• Extended prayer
• Reflection and spiritual review
Different seasons of life require different rhythms. The goal is not perfection—it is connection.
When we intentionally build our lives around abiding in Jesus, something powerful happens: life flows, character changes, fruit grows, and God is glorified.
This week we invite you to begin building your own Rule of Life and take one simple step toward living intentionally with Jesus.
